Mattress Types
Innersprings
Also known as continuous coils or Bonnell springs, this is the more affordable or budget style mattress. One continuous wire is wound through the mattress creating an hourglass effect with each spring. A round helical crosswire connects each single spring to a spring unit. There is some movement felt when turning on the mattress.
Pocket Springs
Mattresses with pocket springs have individual springs encased in fabric pockets and are designed to provide more support. The greater number of springs allows more flexibility so that the mattress can better support body shape. Due to balancing pressure relief, partner disturbances are decreased. Pocket springs will provide the perfect sleep!
This type of system is generally considered as the best that spring units can offer and is normally the most expensive type of product. It is higher priced because manufacturing is more complex. Different thickness (gauge) of wire in the springs makes a harder or softer mattress. The lower the gauge, the firmer the mattress. The number of zones per mattress type is one of the key quality characteristics of a pocket spring mattress.
